My personal favorite comedy. Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman (and his lazy eye), Cloris Leachman!!!! and Madeline Kahn are the "perfect storm." What sets this film apart from other Brooks' work is the originality and uniqueness of the production put forth on the screen. By combining a classic tale and turning it upside-down with crazy characters and hilarious comic bits thrown in, Mel Brooks created a classic film that movie-junkies like me eat up. Frau Blücher (neeehhhhh), "PUT ON THE RITZ", Gene Hackman's blindman, Abby Normal... just classic!!!! Before comedies became crude-fest, Apatow-norms (which I still love of course), writers believed in subtleness and some level of intellect to create masterpieces such as this film.
